Score's 115 ERA+ over his career masked a sharply peaked talent: his best work compressed into just four seasons, where he compiled a stunning 157 ERA+ in 1956 alone. A line drive to the face in 1957 derailed what might have been a Hall of Fame trajectory, and while he pitched productively afterward, he never fully recaptured that early dominance.
