The Almanac's Take

Only two games on the board and both visiting lineups are still unconfirmed, so treat everything here as half a slate. The most eyebrow-raising spot: Byron Buxton is leading off for Minnesota with 17 home runs and a .844 OPS — that kind of power at the top of the order is unusual enough to anchor a Twins stack if Toronto's lineup comes in soft. Boston's confirmed side has Willson Contreras hitting second at .852 OPS and 11 home runs, which is a real number for a catcher this early in the year. Check back once Houston and Toronto post — the read shifts depending on who they're throwing out there.
